Turn back the clock ten years and consider children’s helmets — blocky polystyrene, tape-held plastic shells, with one option; colorful and cartoonish graphics. To make things worse, thick foam pads adjusted the fit. Giro’s separated its Kids Raze Helmet as far as possible from those sorry, sweaty buckets. Just like an adult helmet, the Raze shares the sized-down features found in Giro’s line of performance and value oriented helmets. This includes the Acu Dial fitting system, an in-mold polycarbonate shell with EPS liner, and a generous 22 vents. Like Giro’s larger helmets, the Raze’s Acu Dial combines wraparound comfort and secure holding with a simple, rear-located dial. One handed, you or the little one can adjust the dial for a snug and safe fit — minus the grossness of thick, absorbent foam. Adding to the reduction of perspiration, numerous vents, only possible through the use of Giro’s in-mold technology, ensure there’s plenty of cooling air flow. In-mold construction bonds the shell to the EPS liner, rather than tape. This allows the shell to become structural, and means less material and more vents for a lightweight, durable helmet that can handle the carelessness of kids. The Giro Raze comes with a removable visor and three color options; Red/Rhodamine Descend, Matte Blue, and Black/Charcoal.
