The folks at Louis Garneau understand that not every cyclist is an aspiring pro. At least not yet. That’s why they designed their Road Sport Collection, where every piece emphasizes a minimalist approach with a focus on the things that the aspiring cyclist needs-value, versatility, and comfort. The Ventilator 2 Road Shoe meets all of these needs through innovative design. The second thing you’ll notice about the Ventilator (the first being the low price) is that it doesn’t look like a beginner shoe. That’s partially due to good design and partially due to the extensive labyrinth of open mesh ventilation on the shoe. The Ventilator’s reinforced nylon Ergo Air II outsole allows cooling air to flow into the shoe from underneath, as well. Garneau even uses its Ergo Air Cool Stuff blue insoles to help keep your feet cool and dry in warm weather. Ventilator Shoes are secured by three hook-and-loop straps. The main, decentered, hook-and-loop strap is angled to provide effective heel support and help reduce friction, which causes blisters. The Ventilator also employs Garneau’s HRS-80 heel retention system to the same ends. The smaller strap near the toes fastens to the outside of the foot per usual; it secures the forefoot and allows you to dial in the fit. The Ventilator is surprisingly light for a shoe at this price point. At just 295 grams in a size 41, it rivals shoes that cost two and even three times as much. Garneau added reflective elements to make you more visible on the last leg of your ride (or the first leg if you’re getting a few miles before work).Louis Garneau Ventilator Men’s Shoes are compatible with three-bolt pedal cleat designs. They come in whole sizes from 38 through 50. They’re Black.
