The Mavic Avenge Shoes is new for this year, and not surprisingly, it overachieves right out of the gate. Simply put, the Avenge offers plenty of features that you’d expect to only come with pricier shoes, such as a carbon-reinforced outsole, a pressure-point relieving EVA foam tongue, and a reliable, two-position ratchet strap. In fact, it’s the same one found on Mavic’s top-end models. Taking a closer look, you’ll see that the Avenge features Mavic’s Energy Carbon Comp Outsole. Many shoes at this price point come with a sole made purely of a nylon/fiberglass blend, but Mavic sought to make the Avenge worthy of hard training and powerful efforts. Thus, Mavic chose the Energy Carbon Comp sole, which reinforces nylon/fiberglass with carbon fiber for added gains in stiffness and power transfer. Lack of foot stability is another factor that contributes to a loss of power transfer. So, the Avenge has been given a synthetic counter that wraps around the heel in order to prevent slippage. Additionally, the Ergo Fit 2D insole features a high-density cradle that keeps your heel locked into position. The Avenge’s upper is made out of synthetic leather and mesh for an ideal blend of comfort, durability, and breathability. The Ergo 3D tongue also adds to the comfort with an EVA foam insert that provides relief from abrasion and pressure over the instep. You can secure the Avenge with the Ergo Lite Ratchet strap and two hook-and-loop straps. The ratcheting strap has two positions, so you can dial in a proper, almost-custom feeling fit. The Mavic Avenge Shoes are available in whole and half sizes from 6 to 13. 5 and in two colors Black/silver and White/bright red.
