Other than the shape and color, however, it’s just like the guy’s version. It’s burly and ready to carve big lines down the mountainside.The Karver has an asymmetrical cuff that has a regular low rise height on the outside of the ankle and a slightly higher 3/4 cut on the inside. This keeps you from tenderizing your ankle bone on the cranks or swingarm when you’re bombing down ultra-rough trails. The bottom of the Karver is encased in Five Ten’s dot-patterned Stealth Rubber. Developed for rock climbing shoes, it also has excellent material properties for flat-pedal mountain bike shoes. It’s super sticky and super tough. Trust us, no matter how crazy your pedal pins are, the Stealth Rubber sole can handle it. And in our experience, Five Ten shoes with Stealth Rubber will outlast a regular gum rubber skate shoe many times over, not to mention how much easier it is to keep your feet on the pedals because of the stickiness of Stealth Rubber.The upper of the Karver is made from Five Ten’s Action Leather and blends the right amount of grey, white, and black. The pen and ink styled floral designs give it some added flair.
