As the idea pops into your mind to hop on your bicycle and go for a little ride something occurs to you at the last minute. The flat tire.  Slightly dislodged chain…Hmm..Don’t forget the off kilter seat.  The list goes on and on.  Before I even get started, I’m worn out and the planned ride isn’t sounding so pleasant now.

To keep your bicycle ready for the open road and your adventures takes a lot of behind the scenes action.  In the real world you don’t just jump up and go cycling.  It’s actually more of a ongoing year round process of devoted maintenance to keep that bike in tip top shape.  This is an absolute necessity if you want your bike to prove roadworthy in the long run.

Make sure and check tires for both air and any wear that might need repairing.  Also check your chain assembly carefully looking for slips in the chain or gunk binding it up as this will cause you to have many problems along the way.  Another thing to take a look at is your seat height and make sure it is secured steadily to provide not only a smooth but comfortable ride.

Now, after preparing and performing any maintenance that might need to be done, you are ready to go.  Time to jump on and ride with abandon wherever your heart takes you, knowing all the while you have done the necessary work to ensure you have the time of your life!
